How do you numb the eyes?
For numbing I prefer Dr Numb because it is a thicker consistency and doesn’t melt into the eyes. I do not like thinner numbing creams because they tend to melt and run.
*ALWAYS do your research before using any product around the eyes.*
How many passes?
I like to get one eye pretty well complete before I move to the next.
I start on the right bottom. I do this because typically the left side hurts worse (because it’s the heart side) & typically the client is anxious. For these reasons, I start on the least painful area to calm my client. I try to finish in 2 passes.
How do I begin?
✓Starting on bottom right line, I keep a cotton swab handy on my tray. I tap the corner lashes about 4 times then I check saturation with the cotton swab. Then I adjust my # of taps based on that.
{ If the client has thicker coarser lashes you will need more taps. For light Fitz clients you’ll use less taps unless they want a bold look }
✓I generally settle on about 8-10 taps per needle area. I complete the desired line length with 8-10 first pass taps.
{ Desired line length: consultation is KEY. Bottom liner can range from a subtle corner shadowing, to 1/4 way blended, 1/2 way blended, 3/4 way blended or full on all-the-way eyeliner}
✓After bottom right line first pass, I clean the lashes thoroughly. It’s very easy to have pigment stuck in the lashes and be fooled to think you have good saturation when your pigment isn’t actually in the skin.
✓Then I do a second pass tapping according to what needs more saturation. I try to get it in there in this pass so that I do not have to use secondary numbing.
✓Next, I do the same process on the right top line.
✓I check this eye for desired thickness and line lengths with my client holding a hand mirror and looking for herself. When she agrees on this look, I replicate it on the left eye starting with the left bottom and applying the same process as the right.

8 to 10 needle taps in the same section, then move to next section 8 to 10 and continue this pattern til finished or is it 8 to 10 taps total in the line? Maybe this question gets answered further in
Great question! The taps are per section. Each pass you may only do 3 or 4 of these, but in total you will want about 8 to 10 per section to get good saturation.
Hope this helps!
